Play and exercise are crucial for dogs' physical and mental well-being. They help maintain a healthy weight, reduce boredom, enhance social skills, and provide an outlet for energy, promoting overall happiness.

Not all dogs play the same when it comes to toys, humans, and even other dogs!

Some dogs prefer to play one-on-one, some prefer to play with their human, and some grow out of dog-to-dog play. It’s important that we monitor how our dogs play and fulfill their needs in the areas they enjoy. After all, it is their playtime and not necessarily ours.

Have you ever played a game with someone and you just lose all the time?

It’s not really fun. Think of that the next time you are playing with your dog. Let them decide what the outcome/the “goal” of the game is, and play so that they “win”. Letting a dog "win" in games promotes positive reinforcement. It builds confidence, strengthens the bond between the dog and owner, and encourages a positive association with the activity, making it more enjoyable for the dog.

Remember, it’s their fun time. We are just around to enhance it.
